Skirball Excellence 2000 Elementary
Expansion of E2K to elementary schools, provided by a generous grant from the Skirball Foundation, New York, NY.

After its successful implementation into junior high schools across Israel, Mitchell E2K now looks to benefit other age groups. Welcoming younger students into the E2K family is a crucial step in turning excellence into a way of life in the educational system in Israel.  Schools were meticulously selected to host the Elementary E2K Program in their 5th and 6th grades.  The Elementary E2K program is led by local science and mathematics teachers within communities where E2K has already been implemented in the junior high schools.

Preparing Them for Future Excellence

E2K elementary students are exposed to exciting aspects of scientific phenomena evident in their daily lives. They develop research and learning skills that serve them well when they move on to junior high school. The elementary school program is similar in structure to the already existing junior high school E2K classes.  Units of study for the younger students have been written and adapted to the level of knowledge and background of  5th and 6th graders.

Preparing Teachers to Lead Them

Teachers selected to present the new E2K classes take part in extensive training given by the Excellence Educators Institute of the Center for Excellence. They continue to receive additional professional guidance, support, and training from the EEI throughout the school year.  The training program is accredited by the Israeli Ministry of Education.
