Israel Center for Excellence through Education
Excellence 2000 International

If there is one thing that links student in Israel to students all over the world, it is excellence. The Center for Excellence is on a mission to create that common denominator among bright and motivated students around the world.

After more than a decade of experience in providing extension programs to students from elementary school through high school in Israel, the Israel Center for Excellence through Education felt that the journey of excellence should head overseas. Upon completing the adaptation of the E2K program, Excellence 2000 International was created.

Exporting Excellence

In the United States, the Illinois Math and Science Academy (IMSA) serves as the hub for the entire State of Illinois. The Illinois E2K program has been enthusiastically received and is functioning well in 63 schools across the state.
In Iowa, the Belin-Blank Center at the University of Iowa operates the E2K program in five public school districts throughout the state.
The Gruss Foundation operates the Excellence 2000 program in 69 schools in the Jewish Day School system, in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticutt, Massachusetts, Missouri, Arizona, Texas and California.
In Singapore, the Ministry of Education operates the Excellence 2000 program in 27 elementary schools around the country.
All four operators are expanding their programs based on great demand. Other schools have requested to join the Excellence 2000 program and share the vision of its implementation in the private and public school systems.

Maintaining Center for Excellence Standards throughout the World

To establish E2K in other countries, the existing study units were translated from Hebrew into English. To date, more than thirty units have been translated.  A special training program was developed to prepare appropriate educational institutions to serve as hubs for new regional programs, which is the role played by the Israel Center for Excellence through Education in Israel. This training includes an intensive workshop for those who will serve as the central administration for the program and for the science and math teachers who will train the local teachers in use of the material.

Following the workshop, the Center for Excellence continues to advise the new hub institutions. The Center for Excellence offers ongoing teacher training on new material, as translated units become available.  New E2K International teachers from the U.S. participate in teacher training seminars in Israel. Following that initial training, a seminar for all U.S. E2K teachers is held in New York each spring.

Also in the spring, a seminar is conducted in Singapore for E2K International teachers, master teachers, and administrators.
